The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a tax credit for people who have earned income in 2005 under $37,263. A tax credit usually means more money in your pocket. It reduces the amount of tax you owe. EITC may even result in a refund. If you lived with one child in 2005 and your family earned less than $31,030 ($33,030 married filing jointly), you can get up to $2,662.
If you lived with two or more children in 2004 and your family earned less than $35,263 ($37,263 married filing jointly)*, you can get up to $4,400.
If you had no children living with you in 2004 and you earned less than $11,750 ($13,750 married filing jointly)*, AND you were between ages 25 and 64, you can get up to $399.
